I'd like to see some nice shooting benches and a roof over the pistol area for the outdoor range; budget permitting, it would be nice to do the same for the rifle area.

If this is possible and some other members are willing to help, I'd be happy to propose a design and get pricing for the materials.

Anyone willing?

Well the NRA was kind enough to give us a grant for $1240. This will not cover everything we would like to do for the range but it's a start. I estimate the cement pad alone will be close to $5K. So it will need to go before the membership for a vote if we can put one in next summer. We can start here and work our way to new benches and a covered firing line.

We have applied for grants from the NRA and the Friends of the NRA to put a cement pad, stands, benches and a cover for the outdoor range. Depending on if we get one of the grants and how much it is for will determine what can be done.

We did not schedule an October workbee this year. The next workbee for the outdoor range will be in the spring.

When is the October work bee or have I missed it already?

Shut up and keep passing the ammo.

We have talked about replacing the bench for the 300 yd. line a couple of times since it has rotted away. We just need someone with the expertise and tools to build it. The fall workbee is coming up in October.

I like shooting at ranges that are covered when it is raining, but all ranges with roofs I've ever shot at have only 1 firing point.

I could live without a roof, but MORE benches are needed. I'm suprised that isn't a TO DO item at the workbees.

Range improvement ideas are always welcome. Please do draw up your ideas and get an idea of the price. Our next board meeting is Sept. 2nd due to the Holiday if you'd like to discuss it more. I'm always willing to swing a hammer as well!

It would definitely be nice on the pistol side.

I can see the issue with the rifle range, though.

I think the cost could be offset significantly if we were to build it ourselves - which I don't believe is at all out of the question. I know myself and Ripcode have the "know-how" and willingness to work on the project. We're also working on getting 2 good friends to join the club as well. They're both "project" guys too... If there's enough intrest and some possibility, I'd be willing to put pen to paper and create a materials/price list...

Yes, we could definitely use more benchs!
