For the shoot in May there will be four stages. On two of the stages there will be steel plates
at 50-90 yards and they will be shot from a standing doorway, an upright barrel or prone; shooters choice.
Then the shooter will move to some paper targets, stage their rifle and pick up a loaded shotgun (5 rounds only.)
The shooter will shoot down 7-8 poppers. This will require you to load rounds while shooting - so practice.
The shooter will then dump the empty shotgun and go right to work on paper with the pistol.
There will be two stages of this type. On another part of the range the rifle targets will be two stages
of all paper with shots from cover and moving to cover, shotgun with poppers and then Pistol paper and poppers.
We will try to keep the rifle round count to about 40, shotgun 30 and handgun 60-80 for the match. There will
be less distance to cover as we found that takes time to score and move guns back to safe areas etc. There will
still be a lot of movement but in a smaller area. That should make the time to score and set up for the next
shooter less and make the whole match move quicker. We also will have two squads and could go to four depending
on number of shooters. You will be shooting more and standing less. If you have a gun cart for your guns bring
it as the two stages will be about 100 yards apart so you will have to move your gear once you complete two stages
of fire and move to the other stages. We hope this match will give us a good foundation for more to come.
Everyone should be prepared to help with scoring, plastering targets, getting ready for the next shooter and making
sure all safety rules are followed. So practice some longer shots with your rifle, loading that scattergun and making
fast mag changes with you pistol, work on your fancy footwork need for moving and shooting. One more thing -
pray for sunshine and 70 degrees with a soft spring breeze. That would make for the perfect day.
